When my daughter Kepley was 8 years old, she auditioned for a part in Boston Ballet's The Nutcracker. I wrote about this in my book The Nutcracker Doll. More about this book, (and my daughter), here.

Bio
I grew up in Pittsburgh PA and I have four brothers and two sisters. We had a lot of fun collecting buckeyes and digging holes in the backyard.

I've had lots of different kinds of jobs. I've knitted designer sweaters, interpreted for the deaf, painted signs, and worked as an apprentice engrosser and medical illustrator. But writing and illustrating children's books is the best.

I'm still digging holes in the backyard; I dug a pond for goldfish and water lilies here in my backyard in Boston, MA.. I have a daughter named Kepley and a husband and a son both named Alphonse.
